An Austrian cafe owner is tired of growing electrical bills from patrons parking themselves for hours on end and charging their devices.

While she has no issues with those coming in for a quick coffee and a quick charge (15 minutes or less), anything longer and your bill will include a charge of one Euro per hour for each of the devices you have plugged in.

“Tourists – always electricity, electricity, electricity. Sorry but who is going to pay me for it?” said the owner of the Terrassencafe im Hundertwasserhaus in Vienna, pointing out that the establishment is advertised as a cafe, not an internet cafe. Wifi is still free.

It will be interesting to see if this becomes a growing trend; or will her customers vote with their feet? She began charging for electricity last year, but her decision has gained notoriety when an employee of a tabloid published a photo of their bill showing the “bizarre” charge.
